So Youtube serves many functions. Time waster. Ministry help. Pulse of the Culture.
Last night, it became a time machine to my past. It actually had done this many times before, but last night really was off the charts. Christie was watching Criminal Minds or Law & Order or Death & Destruction or Mame your Mother or whatever Crime Drama was on last night. I have had my fill of them and God has provided me with wireless internet, so I found my way to Youtube and searched one of my favorite memories from my past. To my utter surprise, I found not only a remnant of my past, but I found the full monty of my past. Check it out:
I didn't say that the slice from my past was life changing, but it was certainly a formative part of my life. This was 1986. I was in the 6th grade and local professional wrestling on Sunday Afternoon on Channel 23 out of Tulsa was a highlight of my week. I was able to watch my favorite, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams take on the villains from Bad Street, USA, The Freebirds. This particular match was the match after Dr. Death returned from being put in the hospital by a pile driver on the concrete from Terry Gordy, the enforcer of the Freebirds. Dr. Death was my favorite for many reasons. 1. He was an All America wrestler at OU. 2. He played football for Barry Switzer at OU. 3. He could spell "OU", possibly. I was 11 years old, that made it good enough for me.
I could go on about the stark contrast of this wrestling versus today's wrestling, or how there are spiritual implications about overcoming the pile drivers onto concrete that Satan gives us and coming back from being robbed from the things in life that you feel you deserve, but alas, I won't. 1. That is all a crock of crap, we don't deserve anything. 2. Who cares. It pales in comparison to the unadulterated nostalgia of the past. Enjoy. (PS, the entire match in on Youtube if you are interested.)

Could you spell OU at age 11?
